A. A project I worked on last year was to deliver a finished upgrade of the businesses IT software to aid with an expansion of our business communication department. To do this I had to prioritise the development and investigation stage. What had came to light in the investigation stage was that the IT hardware was not compatible to run the software efficiently. After much discussion and analysis it was realised that replacing the hardware elements of the system firstly would be more cost effective in the long run. This resulted in a complete turnaround of priorities of the project and elevated costs and additional time. However, it did mean that the new software would be cost effective in the long term. On reflection, I suppose before the initial project plan for the software had been established an additional investigation stage should have been added to ascertain if hardware aspect was indeed compatible.
